Menubar Sounds: Privacy Policy
Effective Date: 09/22/2026
Overview
Menubar Sounds does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Everything the app stores stays entirely on your device. This policy explains exactly what that means in practice.
Data Collection
Menubar Sounds collects no data. There are no accounts, no sign-ins, no analytics SDKs, and no network requests made by the app.
- Local Preferences: Which sounds are enabled, their individual volumes, your master volume, and any mixes you save are stored locally on your Mac using standard system storage (UserDefaults). This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us or any third party.
- No Network Access: Menubar Sounds is fully sandboxed and does not request network access. It cannot make network requests or transmit any information, even if it wanted to.
- Apple Anonymized Metrics: Apple may collect anonymized, non-identifiable crash reports and usage trends through their standard platform diagnostics — only if you have opted in to sharing analytics with app developers in your macOS system settings. This data is provided to us in aggregate form only and cannot be used to identify individual users. For details, see Apple's Privacy Policy.
Data Storage
All app data (enabled sounds, volumes, and saved mixes) is stored locally on your Mac only. Uninstalling Menubar Sounds removes this data from your device.
Third-Party Services
Menubar Sounds does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or data services. The only external service involved is Apple's optional platform diagnostics described above.
Children's Privacy
Because Menubar Sounds collects no data from anyone, it is safe for all ages.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy if the app changes in a way that affects data handling. Any significant changes will be reflected with an updated effective date above.
